Our main facility is located in Frankfort, Illinois, and includes our offices, sheet metal shop, and storage yard.
The Company was founded in 1937 by Mr. Gunnar Mortenson. In 1958 Mr. Bob Lukis began his career at Mortenson Roofing and went on to become one of the finest slate and tile craftsmen in the roofing industry. He became a partner with Mr Gunnar Mortenson in 1980 and in 1986 the Lukis family became the full owners. Today the company is guided by Bob's son and son-in-law who began their careers at the company in 1977 and 1979.
Most of the company foremen, superintendents, and jouneymen have been with the company for 10-20 years. This longevity, knowledge and expertise provides customers with the highest quality workmanship and an unmatched level of expertise in specialty slate and tile roof repair, restoration and installation, including copper gutters and flashings.
Our shop has all the equipment and materials needed to fabricate custom gutters, cornices, finials, scupper boxes, clean-out boxes, or any other custom sheet metal items a customer may need.
We stock one of the Midwest's largest supplies of new and used concrete and clay roof tiles, tile fittings and roofing slates. This ensures that repair work is usually done with virtually no delay. This variety of new and used roof tiles allows us to match existing tiles in color and age.
