Since 1937 Mortenson Roofing Co., Inc. of Chicago and Frankfort, Illinois has offered the highest quality workmanship and an unmatched level of expertise in specialty slate and tile roof repair, installation and restoration, including copper gutters and flashings.

We primarily serve the greater Chicago, Illinois area, including northwest Indiana. We have also completed a number of projects in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Iowa. Our roofers have traveled as far away as Naples and Clearwater, Florida for custom slate roof installation. Recently, we have had a crew of our roofers working in New Orleans, Louisiana for repair and restoration of hurricane damaged slate and tiled roofs.

Mortenson Roofing operates its own sheet metal shop in which we fabricate custom gutters, cornices, finials, scupper boxes, clean-out boxes, or any items a customer may need. We also stock one of the Midwest's Largest supplies of new and used concrete and clay roof tiles, tile fittings and roofing slates. This stock ensures that repair work is usually done with virtually no delay. This variety of new and used roof tiles allows us to match existing tiles in color and age.

We have completed many slate and tile roof restorations of historic properties. For example, we installed custom Greek clay tiles on the corners of the four colonnades at Soldier Field to match the originals, and completely retiled the domes of the Museum of Science and Industry.

Although we have completed many larger high profile jobs, the majority of our work is smaller slate and tile roof repairs and restorations of residential properties. In addition to our slate and tile roof services, we install asphalt shingle roofs, synthetic slate roofs and single-ply flat roofs.

Mortenson Roofing is known for its skilled craftsmen and their attention to detail. All of the professional roofers and tinners with the company have completed at least a 4 year apprenticeship in their respective specialty.
